Life as a St John NT Volunteer

BERT

Bicycle Emergency Response Team

The Bicycle Emergency Response Team (BERT) is comprised of volunteers who provide first aid support on bicycles. This allows for a safe and expedient response at major events and activities such as City2Surf, festivals and triathlons.
Being a BERT member requires a skill level above that of just being able to ‘ride a bike’. Contact the Volunteer Office to find out more.

St John NT has a long history of recognising the outstanding contributions volunteers make to the organisation. We seek to recognise all volunteers and there are a number of distinguished national and internal awards that you can be eligible for, in addition to our internal reward and recognition program.

Wellbeing and support services

St John NT volunteers can be exposed to traumatic and stressful situations in the course of their volunteering, this can have a negative impact on family, social and work life.

St John NT places a very high value on the health and wellbeing of their volunteers and actively promotes and supports mental health and well-being in the workplace and offers Peer Support and EASA services to all employees, volunteers and their families.
