Ambulance transport is not a free emergency service in Australia
In the last year, St John NT transported over 38,000 patients to hospital. Ambulance transport is not a free emergency service in Australia and without adequate Ambulance Cover could be costly for the patient.
Ambulance transport fees are based on a priority call out code, determined at the time of the Triple Zero ‘000’ call and the distance the patient travels to hospital. Payment of the ambulance transport is the responsibility of the patient, although may be covered by St John NT Ambulance Cover, a Private Health Insurer, work cover, sport insurance, travel insurance or another third party.
