Our Patient Transport Service (PTS) ensures the safe transport of patients primarily assisting with aeromedical transfers from the airport to hospital, and provides non-emergency transport between home and the hospitals and other medical facilities like nursing homes to ensure our emergency ambulance crews are available for critical, emergency cases.
Patient Transport Services in Darwin and Alice Springs have specialty vehicles with the capability to lift and transport wheelchair, bariatric and heavy patients, and have extra seats for additional passengers like friends, family or guardians. Our PTS staff are health practitioners trained as ‘advanced first responders’ and are certified in non-emergency patient transport to ensure patients conditions are monitored and the appropriate medical treatment provided.
To book non-emergency Patient Transport, download, complete and return our Ambulance Transfer Request form to jescc@stjohnnt.asn.au or fill in the form below.
When a triple zero (000) call is received, our team within the Emergency Communication Centre (ECC) will use our Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system to process the call. Within the CAD system we have the ability to add a flag to an address; when a triple zero (000) call is received for that address, our Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) then passes this information to the attending crews.
This form should be completed to request that a Location Access Information is to be added to our CAD system. It must be completed by the patient/occupant, building owner or someone acting on behalf of the patient/occupant, with their consent.
We will review the request and if accepted, the flag will be retained on the property for three (3) years before being removed. If you require the flag to be removed before this time or have any amendments, such as a change of address or change of code, please resubmit this form with the new information. When the three (3) years have expired, you will need to reapply for the flag.
