Care for community recognised at St John NT annual awards
  29 Nov 2019

The 2019 recipients of the Rotary Club of Darwin Sunrise Paramedic of the Year and the St John Ambulance Australia (NT) Excellence Awards were announced at Parliament House on Thrusday 28 November, 2019.

The awards celebrate and recognise the paramedics, staff and volunteers of St John Ambulance Australia (NT) (St John NT) who demonstrate excellence in leadership or clinical practice, an outstanding level of care, professionalism and compassion for members of the Northern Territory community.

St John NT CEO Judith Barker congratulated all nominees and recipients for being role models within their profession and the community.

“Tonight’s recipients often go above and beyond the call of duty, clearly displaying St John NT’s values of integrity, respect, quality, dedication and compassion. It is an honour to work with such highly skilled and compassionate professionals.

“Now in their 20th year, these awards are testament to the valuable role our organisation plays in the Territory. Be that our response and attendance at a Triple Zero (000) call, volunteers at a major event or first aid training in schools, the St John family is committed to caring for people and being there when you need us most,” Ms Barker said.

2019 Paramedic of the Year was awarded to 25 year old, Aaron Reynolds.

Aaron joined St John NT in 2017 after completing his Batchelor of Paramedicine through the University of Tasmania and has worked in both Katherine and Darwin, where he has built strong professional relationships and links with the community.

“Congratulations to our 2019 Paramedic of the Year, Aaron is a compassionate and highly empathic prehospital clinician, who is well regarded by his peers and dedicated to his profession and the community,” said Ms Barker.

“He joins an alumni of recipients who have provided significant and valuable service to our community.”
