The New Year brought with it some new St John NT employees, Lara Palanga and Asiful, Inam.

Lara comes to Training team in Administration from a varied background – from customer service at Sportsbet to Sales at Fernwood to Management and Administration at Top End Health…What hasn’t she done?!

Inam is our new Training & Development Coordinator within the Volunteering, Events & Community Education Team. He comes from an education background, having worked as a lecturer for numerous universities across the country.  

The most important thing is they both love living in the Territory! For Lara it’s the dry season, the spectacular storms and the sunsets. Inam noted that having most of the infrastructure of a major city with a relaxed, regional lifestyle was a big appeal, as well as the excitement of the frequent welcome and farewell parties – we love our transient Territory!

When asked what they were excited for about their new roles, Inam stated that he was looking forward to delivering the training needs of our dedicated volunteers. “Learning new things and the challenges this role will bring” is something that excites Lara.

Of course they couldn’t leave without answering the age-old Darwin question – where’s the best laksa?

“Definitely Chow!” said Lara, potentially while listening to her song of the week, The Business by Tiesto.

“Homemade from scratch” was Inam’s preference. Anyone else need the recipe or just me?
